The 30/1 underdog Yori Boy Campas was unable to persevere against 154 pound 5 division titlist De La Hoya even with the ritualistic potion he had taken in preparation for this fight. Perhaps the only glimmer of hope this potion may serve will be to sustain some post fight swelling.

De La Hoya's slickness, 4 inch reach advantage and edge in speed showed early unleashing clean combinations to the head and body. Absorbent and hungry, Yori pressed on coming forward sustaining many shots to land very few himself.

Yori's most prominent rounds occured during the 2nd and 5th. In the 5th round especially Campas landed some heavy body punches on De La Hoya temporarily sending Oscar back. However, De La Hoya answered back strong to steal the 5th round with unleashing flurries of combinations.

The fight was subject to several interruptions while the heavy breathing Yori lost his mouth piece again and again. For any momentary advantage Yori received twice in return and in the 7th while oscar unleashed a barrage of punches Yori was salvaged as the fight was stopped at 1min 54 seconds into the 7th round.

Campas said he was never hurt in the fight due to De La Hoya's shots, despite acknowledging the fact that Oscar was the superior fighter an the fight did not go as he wanted it to.

De La Hoya told the media that he respected Yory's ability to take a shot and could not fight as well as he would have liked to, due to a hurt left hand casued in the first round of the fight. He also stated he was not hurt at anytime during the fight, and would be ready to face Mosley on the September the 13th rematch which will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Morales Batters Velardez, stops him in five.

On Erik's docket was to not only to avenge his brother's loss but also to punish Velardez for some out of the ring unsportsmanlike conduct he was offended by.

The harder hitting Morales was precise chosing his spots selectively. Morales stuned Velardez twice in the first and sent him to a flash knockdown in the second. The patient Morales was unaffected by the crowds chants to finish Velardez off quickly and continued to toy with him.

Velardez took a knee twice in the forth with two more counts but survived to the fifth round which closed with his fourth and final knockdown. Erik disposed of Velardez via a combination of a left hook to the body and a right uppercut sending him to the canvas.
Morales announced his intent to go after the 130 pound title right after this, his last fight at 126.
